About
The maxim in the daily work of all employees of the Bergmannsheil und Kinderklinik Buer (BKB) GmbH is a consistent patient orientation. BKB was founded in 2002 when the Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bergmannsheil Buer and the Municipal Children’s Hospital Gelsenkirchen merged. BKB is also part of the Knappschaft Kliniken GmbH – one of the largest public hospital associations in Germany. It is a cooperation partner of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Vereinigung) in outpatient emergency care. In the course of their practical training from the third year of their studies at the BKB, UMCH students are familiarized with modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, made possible by the hospital’s innovative apparatus and technical equipment. As a result of the high-quality standards, since 2005 BKB has been awarded the renowned KTQ seal, underscoring the sustained patient orientation and the high level of expertise in medicine and care – confirmed by external experts – of the UMCH partner institution.
