Cannabis – From Receptors to Ethical Issues (Language: English)

Cannabis is a plant from the hemp family, which has been experiencing a slow image change in large parts of the world for several years – from demonized narcotic to medical all-rounder. But what is the truth behind the plant’s claimed healing properties? It contains up to 60 different cannabinoids, the most potent of which is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Contrary to its reputation as a narcotic, the plant is also a medical plant, which is used in medicine. For example, cannabidiol, better known as CBD oil, is derived from the plant. It is said to have anticonvulsant, anti-anxiety and other healing properties.

On October 29, 2021, UMCH will host a workshop titled “Cannabis – From Receptors to Ethical Issues” under the guidance of Prof. Attila Brassai, MD, PhD and lecturer Erika Ban, PhD.

The workshop will comprehensively discuss the highly controversial topic surrounding the cannabis plant and its use. There will be an exchange on how cannabinoid receptors work, what possible uses there are for cannabis in medicine, and what ethical aspects are involved in the use of the plant.
