New teaching hospitals in Bottrop, Recklinghausen and Gelsenkirchen

In addition to the three clinics in Speyer, Mettmann and Moers, our teaching hospitals now also include the Klinikum Vest in Recklinghausen, the Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bottrop and the Bergmannsheil and Children’s Hospital Buer in Gelsenkirchen. The new teaching hospitals all belong to the medical network of the statutory health insurance company Knappschaft, which also includes eight other hospitals and a total of around 1,500 practicing doctors.

All three facilities have more than 80 years of experience in the treatment of patients and have a minimum of 10 specialist departments. Students at UMCH can thus adapt to excellent and established structures when they get their practical bedside experience in Recklinghausen, Bottrop or Gelsenkirchen from their third year of study. The first UMCH students will start their clinical internships in the teaching hospitals in 2022.
