UMFST-UMCH gets another teaching hospital with the Municipal Hospital Maria-Hilf Brilon.
Located in the eastern part of the Sauerland low mountain range, the facility is one of the region’s top-performing basic and standard care hospitals and currently has staff from nine different medical specialties. The partners in the accompanying health park offer further important specialties and perfectly complement the healthcare location of Brilon. The hospital is also home to a medical care center (MVZ) with a family doctor’s practice as well as a surgical practice, which started operations in 2020.
The hospital operates at the cutting edge of medical science with modern examination and treatment facilities. As a top care facility, it is ideally suited for UMFST-UMCH students to gain experience in a wide range of specialties and disciplines as part of their clinical-practical training starting in their third year of study.
According to Managing Director René Thiemann and Medical Director Dr. Martin Pronadl, for the Municipal Hospital Maria-Hilf Brilon the cooperation means an early integration of excellently trained students into everyday hospital life. In addition, their hospital now has another opportunity to train highly qualified junior doctors itself and to attract them to the institution: “For our hospital and for the entire region, the cooperation is a highly valuable complement, and we look forward to being able to pass on our medical knowledge at a high level.”
