UMFST-UMCH adds a new partner to its teaching hospitals: St. Remigius Hospital Opladen of the Catholic Hospital and Care Facilities Leverkusen (Katholische Kranken- und Pflegeeinrichtungen Leverkusen) thus enriches the steadily growing list of UMFST-UMCH Teaching Hospitals with another entry.
The hospital in Leverkusen offers medical specializations that are usually only found in significantly larger hospitals in Germany. Special areas of focus at St. Remigius Hospital include spinal surgery, artificial joint replacement, lung diagnostics and colon cancer treatment. Every year, more than 13,000 inpatients are cared for here – in addition to around 20,000 outpatient treatments. More than 500 employees are committed to the well-being of the people entrusted to their care.
UMFST-UMCH students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of specialties and disciplines at the St. Remigius Hospital when they complete their clinical-practical training there beginning in their third year of study.
The cooperation enables the hospital to involve excellently trained students in everyday hospital life at an early stage and to train highly qualified junior doctors themselves. In addition, the collaboration with UMFST-UMCH opens up access to doctoral programs, teaching positions and the university’s international research network.
