About the Protestant Hospital St. Johannisstift

The Protestant Hospital St. Johannisstift in Paderborn (EK) and the Medical Center for Health Bad Lippspringe – already a UMCH teaching hospital – cooperate with each other and jointly cover all medical areas required for an all-encompassing practical training for future medical professionals.
Around 450 employees here look after the well-being of around 8,600 inpatients and 11,5000 outpatients every year. As a hospital run by a foundation, EK St. Johannisstift has a total of 11 specialist medical departments – from Acute Geriatrics, Anesthesiology and Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery to its own ENT department. In addition, patients receive high-quality medical care at 5 certified interdisciplinary centers. These include a vascular center, a diabetes center and the Kontinenz- und Beckenbodenzentrum Ostwestfalen (Continence and Pelvic Floor Center East Westphalia). However, the St. Johannisstift Foundation not only includes the hospital in Paderborn, but also various facilities for the elderly, children, and youth, as well as an educational campus for training and further training. As the largest diaconal institution in the region, it has thus been making an important contribution to care and medical treatment for more than 150 years. UMCH students can therefore look forward to gaining a variety of insights into working with patients and an interdisciplinary view of a wide range of healthcare areas.
