This is how straightforward the admission procedure at UMCH works
The admission procedure at UMCH can be completed easily and at any time. It consists primarily of a motivation-based interview followed by a brief evaluation. You will receive your results within a maximum of 48 hours.
The UMCH admission procedure can already be carried out while you are still at school – even one or two years before the desired start of studies. It can be completed either by visiting the UMCH campus in Hamburg on one of our admission dates or by video call from home.

Admission requirements
If you are an EU citizen and you hold a higher education entrance qualification, no specific average grade is required to apply for the program. You must provide a high-school diploma which allows you access to university entrance qualification. If you are a NON-EU citizen, you will have to contact the UMCH Admission Team to receive further information about the requirements of your high-school diploma depending on the issuing country.
Anyone wishing to study beginning in the coming academic year should start planning now. If you don’t have a general higher education entrance qualification yet, you can and should already apply – provided you are in the second last or final year of the upper level (e.g. Gymnasium, High School). Early application is recommended, as our students are successively admitted for studies at UMCH.
Application procedure
Future medical students are selected based on their written application documents and our admission procedure. The oral part of the admission procedure focuses primarily on the applicant’s personal qualification and motivation. This may also include questions about the application documents you have submitted (e.g. work or internship certificates for previous activities in the medical field or volunteer work etc.). The written part consists of 75 multiple-choice questions on biology, chemistry and general knowledge. All three areas are equally weighted. The results of the written and oral part are included in a ratio of 60:40 in the applicant’s overall assessment.
Application made easy
You can apply easily and conveniently via our online application portal. You just need to upload all the necessary information and documents according to the steps described in the Application Guide – UMCH’s Student advisors will also support you throughout this process. After the interview and the evaluation, the results will be submitted via E-mail within a maximum of 48 hours. If you have been accepted to study at UMCH, the last step is to provide us with some documents in a certain format (e.g. translated into Romanian and/or certified by a notary) to consider your application completed.
