As part of the Teaching Hospital Days 2026, UMFST-UMCH had the great honor of welcoming Francisco Javier Dago Elorza, Consul General of Spain, to the campus for the first time. His visit highlighted the growing international network of the university and the importance of cooperation between academic institutions, teaching hospitals and diplomatic representatives.
The visit marked an important milestone in strengthening the relationship between the Spanish medical community and UMFST-UMCH, emphasizing the university’s role as an international hub for medical education and clinical collaboration.
During his visit, the Consul General met with Spanish students at UMFST-UMCH, discussing their study experiences, motivations for pursuing medicine and their future career plans in the international healthcare environment.
The meeting also included Dr. Lorena Sanz López from Hospital Universitario Torrejón (Madrid), a partner institution within the UMFST-UMCH teaching hospital network. As the visiting representative of the Spanish teaching hospital, she shared insights into the importance of international clinical partnerships for education, research and medical practice.
Also present was Hon. Prof. Christopher Musmann, Managing Director of UMFST-UMCH, who welcomed the guests and emphasized the significance of international partnerships for the strategic development of the university.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue between diplomacy, academic education and clinical practice. Discussions focused on topics such as international mobility of medical students, clinical training within European teaching hospitals and the future of medical cooperation across Europe.
