Beyond the Scalpel: Dr. Maria Heller Offers Insights into the World of Plastic Surgery at UMFST-UMCH

As part of its kick-off event, the Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Society at UMFST-UMCH in Hamburg invited students to an insightful guest lecture. The Society introduced itself to the students and welcomed Dr. Maria Heller, a specialist in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery and co-founder of Skin & Body Sculptors in Bremen, as a guest speaker.

In her lecture, “Beyond the Scalpel,” Dr. Heller provided insights into the diverse fields of plastic surgery. Using practical case examples, she demonstrated that the specialty goes far beyond aesthetic procedures and also includes reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, and burn care. She also shared her personal career journey and discussed the challenges of everyday professional life, the role of social media, and balancing career and family life.

The event offered students the opportunity to learn more about plastic surgery and potential career paths. At the same time, the kick-off event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Society at UMFST-UMCH and laid the foundation for future professional exchange.
