Opening Ceremony 2023

On May 5, 2023, the opening ceremony of the UMFST-UMCH Days 2023 was held in the auditorium of the Hamburg campus. The two-day event was chaired by Rector Prof. Leonard Azamfirei as well as Dean Assoc. Prof. Simona Muresan and featured a diverse program – from a teaching hospital fair to two different student competitions and various scientific workshops.

The opening ceremony was introduced with speeches by the Rector and the Dean as well as by Hon. Prof. Dirk Naumann and Christopher Musmann from Campus Management. In addition, the Romanian Minister of Health, H.E. Prof. Alexandru Rafila, and the Romanian Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Adriana Stanescu, spoke. The latter were guests at the Hamburg campus as part of a delegation of high-ranking Romanian officials, which also included the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, and the Minister Counsellor of the Romanian Embassy in Germany, Prof. Iulian Costache. In her speech, Ambassador Stanescu described UMFST-UMCH in Hamburg as a perfect example of successful German-Romanian cooperation.

Representing the many physicians who had traveled from the UMFST-UMCH Teaching Hospitals, Dr. med. Harald Schwacke from the Deaconess Foundation Hospital Speyer addressed the many guests in the auditorium. Following this, Alexander Scheibner, who studies at the Hamburg campus, played "Air" by Johann Sebastian Bach on the violin and thus provided the musical background for the event. To conclude the opening ceremony, Lecturer Alexandra-Elena Lazar gave a detailed presentation on the topic of medical simulation in clinical teaching.
