Hameln. Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont has become a new academic teaching hospital of UMCH – University of Medicine Hamburg. With this cooperation, the hospital is taking another innovative step in attracting highly qualified young professionals: Students from the Hamburg campus can now complete their clinical training phases in Hameln.
“This cooperation allows us to integrate excellently trained students into our clinical workflows at an early stage,” says Managing Director Matthias Dürkop. Furthermore, the hospital now has another opportunity to train highly qualified future physicians in a practical setting and potentially recruit them. “Thanks to the continuing education authorizations granted to us, we are also able to train future specialists in all our departments. We actively participate in scientific studies and in the development of new treatment methods.”
UMCH students will find a broad range of specialties and disciplines at Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont where they can complete their clinical-practical training starting in their third year of study.
With 401 inpatient beds, Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont is one of the largest acute care hospitals in Lower Saxony. As a specialized care facility, the hospital treats around 23,000 inpatients and 43,000 outpatients annually in its 14 departments.

The medical faculty provides students with access to state-of-the-art medical technology and cooperates with numerous teaching hospitals and teaching practices across Germany.
