Saving Lives & Planting Trees Together

A major blood donation drive organized by the German Red Cross took place on the UMCH campus in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld, mobilizing a large number of students. Many of the future doctors took their responsibility seriously and donated blood to help those in urgent need. As a medical university, UMCH places great importance on raising awareness about the life-saving significance of blood donations. Twice a year, UMCH invites the Red Cross to campus, offering students the opportunity to take responsibility and actively contribute to the well-being of others.

This latest initiative was held under the title “Uni Challenge,” with a tree being planted for every first-time donor in spring 2025. UMCH is proud to announce that through the participation of our students, nine trees will be planted. Particularly gratifying was the high turnout of students who have already donated blood several times—a clear testament to the ongoing commitment of our university community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants and look forward to celebrating the tree planting next spring as a symbol of this successful initiative. Together, we are committed not only to medical education but also to saving lives—both through blood donations and sustainable environmental engagement.
