Five Study Places in Partner Teaching Hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony
German medical students have the opportunity to complete their studies close to home. In cooperation with the UMFST-UMCH teaching hospital network, five study places are allocated at selected teaching hospitals.
Partner institutions include, among others:
Theory in Hamburg, Practical Training On Site – With Guaranteed Planning Security
The medical degree program is designed to last six years and is taught in English. The first two years focus on pre-clinical foundations, followed by four years of clinical and practical training.
A key advantage: From the third year through to graduation in the sixth year, students have the opportunity to train at one of the partner teaching hospitals. This means that students complete their entire clinical education continuously at a hospital near their home (up to 14 weeks per year) of their choice.
This early and binding placement ensures a high level of planning security and allows students to remain in their familiar environment long-term.
Practical training includes, among other things, work in the operating room, ward-based clinical duties, and close collaboration with experienced physicians. At the same time, theoretical instruction continues at the Hamburg campus, ensuring an optimal integration of theory and practice.
Flexible and Fast Admission Process
The application process can begin even before completing the Abitur or the International Baccalaureate (IB) — up to one or two years before the intended start of studies.
Applicants can conveniently complete the process online via video call. It consists of a motivation and aptitude interview, as well as a short written assessment.
Applicants typically receive feedback within 48 hours.
Save Fees with a Discount Code
By using the voucher code “Heimatnah-(City)” (example: Heimatnah-Lüdenscheid), applicants can save the €595 admission fee.
The code is valid for applications with preferred locations in: Lüdenscheid, Moers, Mettmann, Leverkusen, Damme, and Hameln-Pyrmont.
The offer is valid until May 15. Important: The admission interview must be completed by May at the latest.
As study places are allocated on a “first come, first served” basis, early application is strongly recommended.
