UMCH Nominated for the German Medical Award in the Category “Communication”

UMCH – Universitätsmedizin Neumarkt a. M., Campus Hamburg has been nominated for the prestigious German Medical Award 2025 in the category Communication. This category honors projects that shape the healthcare sector in a sustainable way through innovative and impactful communication.

UMCH offers the first complete English-language medical degree program in Germany, combining an international perspective with regional healthcare provision. Currently, more than 1,000 students from over 40 nations are enrolled. International medical students acquire German language skills up to the highest level during their studies, enabling them to successfully complete clinical training phases in German teaching hospitals and seamlessly pursue specialist training in Germany. At the same time, UMCH provides new study opportunities for German high school graduates – also in cooperation with municipalities and regional hospitals.

A particular strength of UMCH lies in its intensive networking and communication between campus, teaching hospitals, teaching practices, and regions:

• More than 30 teaching hospitals and 100 teaching practices are integrated into the training model.

• From the third year of study onwards, students spend several weeks each year in hospitals in their home regions, gaining early and practical insight into clinical life.

• Cities and districts are able to allocate their own study places to secure the next generation of physicians locally.

With this approach, UMCH builds a bridge between international medical education, regional healthcare provision, and modern communication.
