UMFST Enters ShanghaiRanking 2026 for the First Time
Congratulations to our main campus, G.E. Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Târgu Mureș (UMFST), on this remarkable international achievement!
For the first time, G.E. Palade UMFST of Târgu Mureș has been included in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2026, marking an important milestone in the university’s international academic and research visibility.
In the field of Human Biological Sciences, UMFST has been ranked in the 401–500 range worldwide.
Even more significantly, according to the national filtering provided by ShanghaiRanking, UMFST is the only university in Romania represented in Human Biological Sciences in the 2026 edition.
International Recognition for Research Excellence
ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects is one of the internationally recognized university ranking systems for evaluating academic performance across individual research fields.
The 2026 edition covers 57 academic subjects and approximately 2,000 universities from around 100 countries and regions worldwide.
Universities are assessed using objective indicators grouped into five major categories: World-Class Faculty, World-Class Research Output, High-Quality Research, Research Impact, and International Collaboration.
UMFST’s first appearance in the ranking therefore represents an important recognition of the university’s growing scientific impact and international presence.
