UMFST-UMCH Strengthens Medical Ties in Madrid

International cooperation in medicine goes far beyond student mobility. It creates opportunities for universities, hospitals, educators, and medical professionals to exchange knowledge, strengthen clinical training, and develop sustainable academic partnerships.

A delegation from UMFST and UMFST-UMCH recently visited University Hospital Torrejón in Madrid to discuss medical education, clinical training, and future opportunities for institutional collaboration.

The delegation included Prof. Simona Mureșan, UMFST Vice-Rector, Dr. med. Benedikt Knof, UMFST-UMCH Associated Teacher for ENT and Head of the ENT Department at the UMFST-UMCH Teaching Hospital in Lüdenscheid, as well as Dr. Jamil Hmida from UMCH Campus Management.

Exchange on Medical Education and Clinical Training

At University Hospital Torrejón, the UMFST-UMCH representatives met with Dr. Lorena Sanz, Head of the ENT Department and Head of Medical Education, and Vicente Roig Pérez, Head of Coordination for Healthcare Projects and Academic Relations.

The discussions focused on medical teaching, practical clinical education, and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the institutions. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and identify potential areas for future academic and clinical collaboration.

Insights into ENT Practice in Spain

A particular focus of the visit was the exchange between Dr. Benedikt Knof and Dr. Lorena Sanz. Their discussions covered ENT practice as well as differences and similarities between the German and Spanish healthcare systems.

Dr. Knof also had the opportunity to observe surgical procedures firsthand and gain deeper insights into clinical workflows and departments at University Hospital Torrejón.

These direct professional exchanges are an important part of international medical cooperation. They allow physicians and educators to share clinical perspectives, explore different approaches to patient care, and identify new opportunities for teaching and training.

Strengthening International Medical Partnerships

The visit to Madrid represents another step in strengthening the relationship between UMFST-UMCH and University Hospital Torrejón. By connecting academic education with clinical expertise across national borders, both institutions can create additional opportunities for knowledge exchange and the development of medical education.

UMFST-UMCH thanks the team at University Hospital Torrejón for the warm welcome, the professional exchange, and the inspiring discussions. We look forward to continuing and further developing this collaboration.
