Choose your teaching hospital – instead of being assigned one
The UMFST–UMCH Teaching Hospital Days form a key part of the practical medical curriculum at UMFST–UMCH creating a strong connection between students and our international network of regional teaching hospitals. As early as their second year, students have the opportunity to meet their potential teaching hospitals in person, well before the start of their clinical training.

The benefits of collaboration
A central strength of UMFST-UMCH is its collaboration with over 30 teaching hospitals across Germany. These partnerships enable a balanced combination of theoretical instruction on the Hamburg campus and practical training phases.
From the third year onwards, students spend 4 to 16 weeks per year in certified teaching hospitals, where they can immediately apply their theoretical training to clinical practice. This intensive integration into clinical routines provides students with valuable experience. Teaching practices also impart knowledge in practice management and introduce students to outpatient care professions, such as general medicine, ophthalmology and dermatology.
