Lecture: “For a good ending – palliative care basics and thoughts on ethics and communication” (Lecture language: English)
On March 17, we welcome Prof. Andreas-Stefan Lübbe, MD, PhD, to another installment of UMCH’s ReachHigher lecture series.
Prof. Lübbe is Chief Physician of the Cecilien Clinic and the palliative care unit of the Karl Hansen Clinic of our teaching hospital MZG Westfalen. In his lecture entitled “For a good ending – palliative care basics and thoughts on ethics and communication”, he will talk about how to deal with dying patients. What should be the goals of palliative care? What demands does palliative medicine impose on those who practice it? And what relationship should be sought between those treating and those being treated? Prof. Lübbe will explore these and other questions at ReachHigher. He will introduce you to the art of symptom control and give you an in-depth view of palliative medicine as one of the most challenging specialties in Human Medicine.
In addition to his various activities for the MZG Westfalen, Prof. Dr. Lübbe is, among other things, a member of the AG für Internistische Onkologie Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft, the AG Supportive Onkologie, Rehabilitation und Sozialmedizin der DKG and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Palliativmedizin. He is also a founding member and chairman of Pallium – Lebensqualität für Krebsbetroffene e.V. and Paderborner Palliativnetz e.V.
Thus, UMCH’s enrolled and future students, as well as participants in our medical preparatory courses, can look forward to a true expert in his field.
Entertaining, innovative and condensed: At ReachHigher, experts from a network of extraordinary personalities give lectures on the topics of medicine and research as well as leadership/motivation.
