At UMCH, great value is placed on internationality. This is reflected not only in the fact that instruction is in English and students from various countries meet at the vibrant Elbe metropolis campus in Hamburg. In addition, UMCH participates in the European ERASMUS program, allowing you to spend part of your studies in another exciting location.
ERASMUS is a program of the European Union, aimed at promoting student mobility within Europe. You will meet new cultures and people, improve your language skills, and develop intercultural competencies. Participating in the ERASMUS program is also always associated with lots of fun and unforgettable life experiences.
During your time abroad, you can make valuable contacts while immersing yourself in another university environment. In addition, you gain exciting insights into an additional university and healthcare system. You benefit not only personally but also professionally from such a stay abroad. By participating in the ERASMUS program, you will not lose any study time, so you do not need to worry about possible delays in completing your degree. The ECTS credits you earn while studying abroad will be seamlessly recognized by UMCH, allowing you to continue your studies without interruption.

The Department for Counseling and Career Guidance at UMCH (DCPC) allows students to benefit from various forms of psychological support. From career counseling to educational coaching, psychological counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, factors such as the personality types of individual students, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, are taken into account. With the help of professional coaching measures specifically designed for academic use, students are supported in making decisions and learning how to best cope with the challenges of their demanding medical studies. Furthermore, psychological counseling and cognitive-behavioral programs help reduce the risk of burnout and psychological issues, enabling students to complete their studies healthily and in a goal-oriented manner. Participation in DCPC programs is entirely voluntary and free for all UMCH students. All information provided during the counseling process is treated with strict confidentiality and in full compliance with applicable national and European regulations, as well as other rules, especially the Code of Ethics.
