The graduates should be able to meet the requirements arising from new scientific findings and the needs of a constantly changing society – a patient-oriented system of values at the highest level. Our aim is to teach modern medicine that does justice to the complexity of human health and can offer each patient the best possible care in their individual state of health.

The teaching in small groups on a state-of-the-art teaching and research campus guarantees a high-quality medical education. In the basic and supplementary subjects as well as during clinical internships, there is an excellent relationship between teachers and students. Students maintain close contact with the lecturers and enjoy outstanding medical teaching. Thanks to the strong international orientation of the university, students are offered the opportunity to participate in groundbreaking congresses and symposia all over the world and to gain insight into a lot of multidisciplinary projects.
EU-wide recognition
The six-year medical degree program at UMCH leads to a university degree in Medicine, which corresponds to the professional qualification listed in Annex V of the EU Professional Qualification Directive and forms the basis for obtaining a license to practice medicine in the EU and many other countries. Our offer is aimed at highly motivated people who want to attain their goal of studying medicine and are not discouraged by the high grades required to study at a state university. We want to encourage and support them individually on their way to achieving their goals. Theoretical knowledge alone does not make anyone a good physician – we rely on a concept combining research, teaching and practice.

The primary goal of the UMFST of Targu Mures as an educational institution is to ensure a high-quality medical education as well as continuous development and promotion of scientific research. Furthermore, the study concept places great importance on adapting the theoretical contents of the studies as well as the practical skills of the graduates to the requirements of the job market. Apart from theoretical expertise and research methods, the mission of the university is to promote critical thinking and a lively exchange between professors and students.
Extensive practical experience
By working in small groups and through preparatory simulation exercises, students acquire in-depth knowledge and expertise. They also learn how to approach patients and talk to them effectively. They should learn how to apply theoretical knowledge in real contexts and gain practical experience. For this reason, many hours of practical training are integrated into the curriculum. Beginning with the 3rd academic year, practical training is taking place within clinical disciplines under the guidance of specialized academic staff.
Extracurricular Workshops
Our extracurricular workshops are additional learning opportunities outside of regular classes. In these hands-on events, students can deepen specific skills, think creatively, and gain experience in various areas. The aim is to foster personal growth beyond the traditional curriculum.
