UMCH, as a result not only provides a comprehensive medical education but also opens doors to a seamless transition into the professional realm, emphasizing international recognition, language accessibility, and career opportunities.
Hamburg
The second-largest city in Germany, is a vibrant metropolis located not far from Berlin. Nestled along the banks of the Elbe River, Hamburg is renowned for its rich maritime history, bustling harbor, and cultural diversity. This international city is well-connected, with short flight distances to other major European hubs such as London, Paris, and Rome. Known for its dynamic atmosphere and welcoming spirit, Hamburg stands as a key player in Germany’s cultural and economic landscape.
The campus is situated in the popular and centrally located district of Bahrenfeld. Within walking distance from the campus, one can find the football stadium and concert arena. Additionally, in the coming years, Science City is set to emerge directly across from the campus, promising further advancements and innovation.
Digital Learning & Innovative Medical Technology
The campus offers students state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, including multimedia lecture halls and seminar rooms, as well as learning and IT areas with excellently equipped computer workstations. Among the highlights of the equipment at the Hamburg campus are the 3D anatomy and dissection tables. These represent the most technologically advanced visualization system for depicting anatomy. The use of this innovative technology assists medical students in exploring the anatomy of the human body in a diverse and illustrative manner. With the help of 3D representations, anatomical structures can be interactively conveyed, and organs, blood vessels, and nerve fibers can be viewed from all angles. The UMCH’s augmented reality glasses are primarily designed to enable the simulation of medical history-taking conversations. Students can immerse themselves in virtual medical scenarios and thus gain practical experience in conducting medical histories – a fundamental element in medical diagnosis and patient care. Additionally, binocular, fluorescence-capable training microscopes are available, specifically designed for life science courses. These microscopes allow students to examine tissues and cells in high resolution. The campus is also extensively equipped with multimedia lecture halls and seminar rooms, all of which have equipment for live transmission of lectures. All teaching formats can then be streamed as many times as needed, and a search function can be used to specifically locate individual terms. This is particularly advantageous in times of online learning and hybrid instruction.
