On October 12, 2021, under the direction of Prof. a.c. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Michael Mian, MBA and Dr. Florian Zerzer, a ReachHigher edition took place at UMCH. The speakers visited the campus in Hamburg as alternates for the South Tyrol Health Authority. In their presentation entitled “Back to the Future”, they used their employer as an example to explain the challenges that the medical industry will have to face in the future and how they can be overcome. To this end, they presented the innovation and research concept of the South Tyrol Health Authority during the course of the event.
Attendance at the first lecture, which took place in the brand new UMCH Lounge, was very high, resulting in additional chairs being obtained so that all participants could be seated. Following the ReachHigher lecture, the students in attendance were given the opportunity to exchange ideas and ask individual questions over a glass of wine with representatives of the South Tyrol Health Authority. In the process, there was a lively exchange between Prof. Mian, Dr. Zerzer and the prospective medical students. This was particularly interesting for those among the UMCH students who themselves originate from the Italian Alpine province of South Tyrol.
