UMFST-UMCH students visit CordX Masterclass in Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiology

Between 20 and 22 May 2022, the CordX Masterclass in Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiology was held at the UMFST main campus in Targu Mures. The event was organized by the non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organization SideMED Romania. On Sunday, May 22, UMFST-UMCH students Darya Mavayi and Julius Balkenhol were also present there to give short lectures. This was made possible through the initiative of UMFST-UMCH teacher Assist. Dragos Baba, MD, Ph, who was supportive of the two throughout the process.

In addition to the two UMFST-UMCH students, about 200 other prospective medical students from various programs and physicians from different specialties participated in the three-day event. They all prepared abstracts for specific case reports, which they eventually presented in short, five-minute talks during the CordX Masterclass. Darya Mavayi’s topic was “Diagnostic and Therapeutic: Use of Adenosine in Supraventricular Tachycardia”, while Julius Balkenhol gave a presentation on “Device Migration in TAVI Procedure Resulted in Valve-in-Valve Implementation”. Additionally, the two UMFST-UMCH students were able to enjoy excellent networking opportunities during the course of the congress.
