Hamburg is one of the largest railway hubs in Northern Europe. From Hamburg Central Station, you can take a train to Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, or Munich in just a few hours, and you can easily reach almost any other city in Germany and Europe. In addition to the Central Station, there are train connections from several other long-distance stations like Altona, Dammtor, Harburg, and Bergedorf. Long-distance buses also run from the central bus station (ZOB) located at the Central Station to a variety of national and international destinations.
You can easily reach UMFST-UMCH by public transport. The closest bus stops to the campus are Luruper Chaussee (DESY) (Lines 2, 3, X3, 284) and Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld (Lines 1, 2, 3, X3, 284, and occasionally 286). The X3 is an Express-Bus. From Hamburg Central Station, you can reach UMFST-UMCH in about 30 minutes by S-Bahn and bus. From Altona, it takes less than 20 minutes. Buses run every 5-10 minutes during peak times.
From Central Station to UMFST-UMCH by S-Bahn and Bus
- Line S1 and S3 with a changeover in Altona (S1 and S3) or Othmarschen (S1)
- Line S2 and S5 with a changeover at Holstenstraße
- Line 3 or X3 (direction Stadionstraße / Schenefeld, Schenefelder Platz) from Holstenstraße
- Lines 1 or 2 from Altona (direction S Rissen / Schenefeld)
- Line 284 from Elbgaustraße (direction Altona)
- Line 284 from Othmarschen (direction U Niendorf Nord)
- Luruper Chaussee (DESY) or
- Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld
You can reach UMFST-UMCH in less than 5 minutes on foot from either station.
