UMSFT-UMCH continues to expand its network of clinical training partners: Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont has officially been designated as an academic teaching hospital of UMFST-UMCH. During an official visit to the hospital, the teaching hospital plaque was presented by UMCH Managing-Director Hon. Prof. Christopher Musmann M.Sc, marking the formal recognition of the collaboration in medical education.
Since last year, UMFST-UMCH medical students have already been completing their clinical practical rotations at Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont. During these placements, students gain valuable hands-on experience across various medical specialties while becoming familiar with the daily operations of a modern tertiary care hospital at an early stage of their education.
“Clinical training at academic teaching hospitals is a key component of modern medical education. Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont offers our students ideal conditions for practical, high-quality clinical training,” said Hon. Prof. Christopher Musmann M.Sc during the presentation ceremony.
Sana Klinikum Hameln-Pyrmont has been actively involved in medical education for many years and already serves as an academic teaching hospital of Hannover Medical School. Through its partnership with UMFST-UMCH, the hospital is now further expanding its commitment to educating future physicians while complementing its established training structures with an additional international educational pathway.
The primary contact person and supervising instructor for UMFST-UMCH students in Hameln is Dr. Ben Schwertfeger, Head of the Emergency Department. He oversees the students’ clinical training and provides comprehensive insights into multiple medical disciplines as well as interdisciplinary collaboration within the hospital.
“Our students benefit from close cooperation with experienced medical teams and gain early practical insights into patient care. At the same time, we aim to inspire young physicians to pursue long-term careers in our region,” emphasized Dr. Schwertfeger.
The official presentation ceremony was also attended by chief physicians from several departments who actively contribute to teaching and medical education and support the hospital’s role as an academic teaching hospital of UMFST-UMCH.
Through this partnership, UMFST-UMCH further strengthens its network of clinical training sites across Germany and continues to provide medical students with optimal conditions for modern, practice-oriented, and internationally focused medical education.
