At the end of April, students from UMCH gathered for a captivating event featuring Dr. Michael Klein, the renowned Clinical Director for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery, specialized Trauma Surgery, and Neurotraumatology. The theme of the event was “Basics of Orthopaedic Surgery,” offering participants the opportunity to embark on a fascinating journey through the historical milestones and fundamental techniques of this specialized field.

Dr. Klein, a prominent figure in Orthopaedic Surgery, led an exciting workshop focusing on key aspects of polytrauma management in the shock room. Participants engaged in discussions about the xABCDE approach, which emphasizes the systematic assessment and immediate stabilization of trauma patients. The workshop also covered the nuances of damage control for pelvic and extremity bleeding, equipping participants with essential skills for effectively treating life-threatening injuries.
