UMCH Medical Foundation Track (3 Weeks)

More knowledge in less time

Your foundation for medical studies – both for your studies at UMCH and at any other university

Are you about to start your medical studies and want to lay the ideal foundation for them?

A sound knowledge of the natural sciences is the basis for a successful career as a doctor and will allow you to have a much easier start in medical school. UMCH’s Medical Foundation Track is specifically designed to provide you with this knowledge and prepare you for your studies in the best way possible – regardless of whether you plan to study at UMCH or at another university. In the 3-week crash course, you will gain the maximum amount of basic scientific knowledge in the shortest possible time, while at the same time deepening what you have already learned in a lasting manner. The focus is on the subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Topics covered during the course include Cell Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Basic Biochemistry, Mechanics, Electricity and Optics.

Three unforgettable weeks among like-minded people

In addition to acquiring extensive scientific knowledge, there are also opportunities to participate in social activities throughout the course – be it online, on campus, or while out exploring the beautiful city of Hamburg. After class, for example, there will be get-togethers with your fellow participants. Together, you can explore the city’s many attractions, which include the impressive Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall, the picturesque Treppenviertel district, and the Speicherstadt warehouse district – the world’s largest historic warehouse complex. You will also have the opportunity to meet current UMCH students who will share valuable tips about student life in Hamburg at large. This way, you are able to make early contacts with like-minded people and form new friendships. Moreover, you will be able to explore the cultural, culinary and social highlights of the northern German metropolis.

Optimally prepared for your medical studies

The English-language course, which you can attend in a university setting on the UMCH campus in Hamburg or online, is taught by international specialist lecturers with many years of experience.  They will teach you the most important theoretical principles of their respective fields. Learning takes place in small groups, which ensures individual support. Thanks to various practical units and the opportunity to participate in internal university workshops, the practical relevance is particularly high. The preparatory course thus offers you the best possible conditions for achieving optimal learning success. It includes both theory lessons and many practical units in the various types of laboratories at UMCH, as well as the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as workshops and university-internal lectures.

Digital-learning

Digital learning at the cutting edge

You can take part in UMCH’s Medical Foundation Track (3 Weeks) both via on-site participation on campus in Hamburg or – regardless of where you live or reside – online. As an online participant, you are connected live to the course via video streaming and can actively participate in the lessons. In addition, all Medical Foundation Track (3 Weeks) events are recorded and subsequently uploaded to our digital learning platform. Non-UMCH students will also have access to this learning platform. There, regardless of whether you attend the course on-site or online, you can review the respective events as often as you like afterwards and search for specific keywords.
