On September 21 and 22, the Welcome Days 2023 for the first-year students of the new academic year took place at the UMCH Campus in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld. During the event, which was divided into two groups, the students had the opportunity to get a first impression of studying medicine on the Hamburg campus.
After a warm-up program by Student Council members Baraneh Salamat and Lucas Glaser, who also served as moderators for the event, Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simona Muresan presented the most important facts about the history of the university and about studying at its German branch in Hamburg. Afterwards, the students headed to the UMCH Cafeteria, where they had the opportunity to get to know each other and make new friends while enjoying a wide variety of lunch and dessert options. Throughout the day, designated Buddies from higher semesters were available to answer any questions they might have.
After the break, Baraneh and Lucas gave a presentation called “Study Survival Guide” to give their new fellow students valuable tips for a successful start to their studies. After an extensive Q&A session with Baraneh and Lucas, the Buddies took their respective groups on a campus tour that ended in the UMCH Lounge. There, the prospective physicians were able to relax and enjoy a cool drink to round off a successful event.
In the evening, the first-year students had the opportunity to celebrate the start of their new and exciting life together with their Buddies in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg.
