With nordBLICK, UMFST-UMCH has entered into another cooperation in the field of academic teaching practices. At two locations, Kiel and Elmshorn, students in their fifth year of study at the Hamburg campus have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in the field of ophthalmology in practice.
The individual locations, which include the Bellevue Eye Clinic, the Kiel Eye Center and the Elmshorn practice, have different areas of specialization. In the Bellevue Eye Clinic, for example, operations on cataracts and glaucoma as well as operations on the lacrimal ducts, the retina, the cornea and the eyelids are among the doctors’ specialties. For this purpose, in addition to four operating rooms, an intervention room and a separate laser center are available. In the Kiel Eye Center and the Elmshorn practice, on the other hand, conservative ophthalmological care and preventive examinations are the focus of daily work.
The addition of nordBLICK to the UMFST-UMCH teaching site portfolio adds another important component to the range of studies offered at the Hamburg campus. The future physicians of UMFST-UMCH can thus look forward to experiencing comprehensive training in the field of ophthalmology at the various nordBLICK locations.
