Follow our Students | Bedside Teaching at St. Vincent Hospital Dinslaken
In this video, third-year UMFST-UMCH students show us their everyday life in their clinical practical study phase at St. Vinzent Hospital in Dinslaken. In addition to everyday tasks, such as changing bandages, they also get the opportunity to regularly participate in laparoscopic gallbladder operations, among other activities. In addition to impressions of the students’ practical work, this video also provides us with impressions of the in-house cafeteria and the common room of the future doctors.

At the UMFST-UMCH Teaching Hospital in Delmenhorst, the Delme Klinikum, our students learn in an institution rich in tradition, whose history dates back over 150 years. In this video, we accompany them in everyday life during a clinical-practical study phase. At the Delme Klinikum, where a new building is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2026, they regularly get the opportunity to perform examinations on patients themselves – for example, ultrasound examinations on pregnant women. The hospital, which thanks to its own nursing school can look back on many years of experience in training medical staff, has 15 specialist departments and 7 medical care centers in the fields of Neurosurgery, Urology, Radiology, Trauma Surgery and Orthopedics, Physiotherapy, Pain Therapy as well as Visceral Surgery and Proctology.

In this video, UMFST-UMCH students who are completing their clinical-practical study phase at the Deaconess Foundation Hospital in Speyer, give us an impression of their everyday life during bedside-teaching. In the picturesque small town in Rhineland-Palatinate, the future physicians repeatedly get the opportunity to get hands-on with patients, among many other activities. The hospital comprises several special departments such as Gynecology and Obstetrics, where our students can gain a wealth of experience. In addition to impressions of everyday hospital life, our students also provide us with insights into their student life, which goes beyond mere theoretical and practical studies, in this video.

In this video, we accompany UMFST-UMCH students in their 3rd year of study on a typical working day during their bedside training at the Werra-Meissner Clinic in Eschwege. In the process, they give us insights not only into practical activities such as operations, where they get to be hands-on themselves, but also into the apartments where they live during their clinical-practical training.
UMFST-UMCH Christmas Wishes 2021
In this video, our students and faculty, as well as UMFST-UMCH Dean Assoc. Prof. Simona Muresan, MD, PhD, share their Christmas wishes with us. In addition, you can watch a recap of the year 2021, which – among many other highlights – was packed with events, workshops, and lots of knowledge imparted in regular classes on campus. Finally, the UMCH Band performs a cover version of the Wham! classic “Last Christmas”.

UMCH Pre-Medical Course
Our 3 week Pre-Medical Course is aimed at all those who wish to acquire the greatest possible amount of scientific information within the shortest time possible while at the same time deepening their preexisting knowledge. The course’s emphasis is placed on biology, chemistry and physics. Topics covered include cell biology, anatomy, physiology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, basic biochemistry, mechanics, electricity and optics.

This time Melina visits the Deaconess Foundation Hospital Speyer near Heidelberg. She gets an overview of the intensive care unit and cardiology and learns what makes teaching at this UMCH teaching hospital so special and what tasks the UMCH students can take on during their clinical internships in the various specialist departments.

UMCH College Semester
Our 12-week College Semester is aimed at all those who, in addition to refreshing their knowledge from school, want to acquire additional medical know-how and prepare themselves in as much detail as possible for the admission procedure at UMCH. Besides biology, chemistry and physics, students are also taught in other areas that are important for medical studies. These include mathematics, biochemistry, anatomy and medical theory.
