With Klinikum Lüdenscheid, the steadily growing portfolio of UMFST-UMCH Teaching Hospitals is extended by another entry. As a maximum care hospital, the facility comprises around 938 beds and 1,900 employees, including around 340 physicians and 860 nurses. Klinikum Lüdenscheid comprises a total of 29 clinics and institutes, making it the largest hospital in the South Westphalia region.
UMFST-UMCH’s newest teaching hospital operates at the cutting edge of medical science and features modern examination and treatment capabilities. As a result, this top-tier care facility is ideal for UMFST-UMCH students to gain experience in a wide range of specialties and disciplines as part of their clinical-practical training beginning in their third year of study.
For Klinikum Lüdenscheid, the cooperation means an early integration of excellently trained students into everyday hospital life, says Dr. Thorsten Kehe, Chairman of the Management Board. In addition, his hospital now has another opportunity to train highly qualified junior doctors itself and to attract them to the hospital.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Uhlig, Medical Director of the facility and Director of the Clinic for Anesthesia, Operative Intensive Care Medicine, Outpatient Pain Therapy and Emergency Medical Services adds: “For Klinikum Lüdenscheid and for the entire region, this cooperation is a particularly valuable addition and we look forward to being able to pass on our medical knowledge at a high level.”
