Junior Researcher Academy – Prof. Dr. Dragos Iliescu presents webinar on “Coping with Stress in Times of Pandemic”

February 26, 2021

On Thursday, February 25, 2021, a webinar of the university’s own Junior Researcher Academy was held under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dragos Iliescu. The event, titled “Techniques for effective stress management during pandemic times”, did not only focus on how to optimally deal with physical and mental stress in corona times. The renowned scientist and successful businessman primarily provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the current state of research on the subject of stress.

How does stress arise? What effects does it have on the human brain? And is it exclusively bad for us? Prof. Iliescu answered these and many other questions in his presentation, during which the attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions via chat function, which were answered at the end. Among the attendees of the webinar – besides several UMCH lecturers – was also the Dean Assoc. Prof. Simona Muresan, MD, PhD.

The newly established Junior Researcher Academy is aimed at students who have a particular interest in research and innovation. It is part of a broader strategy aimed at teaching students the fundamentals of scientific work in medicine and offering them support in developing a career in research as well as building a community of young peers. In doing so, the series of events includes meet-ups, workshops, training sessions and hackathons, as well as the potential involvement of students in university-based research teams, some of which are international.
