ReachHigher with Medicins sans Frontieres

Report on field work (Lecture language: English)

On October 19, 2020, we will welcome a speaker from the charity organization Medecins sans Frontieres at UMCH.

The organization was founded in 1971 as a result of the humanitarian crisis caused by the Biafra war in Nigeria and is currently active in about 70 countries. The aim of Médecins Sans Frontières is to provide direct medical aid quickly and effectively in war and crisis zones. In Pakistan, for example, since 2012 – following prolonged monsoon rains and subsequent severe flooding – more than 9,700 medical consultations have been held, around 1,070 malnourished children treated, 1,100 births accompanied, 97 patients with severe diarrhea treated, and water canisters, hygiene kits, mosquito nets and tents distributed to around 60,000 people.

We are very much looking forward to learning more about Medecins Sans Frontieres and giving our students the chance to have their personal questions about the exciting and important work of this non-governmental organization answered in a group discussion.
